Exploring decor, design choices, and sky-high inspiration in Second Life.
I recently decided to get the Premium Plus (+) membership and pick up a Linden Home again. I wanted a little place to escape from my store & office sim and just relax — or hide. I’ve never been a huge fan of Linden Homes, but I’ll admit, the new Mediterranean-themed options and landscaping are pretty nice.
That said, I didn’t end up settling there. Instead, after spending a few minutes exploring higher elevations, I claimed my airspace and got to work creating the perfect bachelor pad — well, perfect for me anyway.
Here’s a quick rundown of what it took, along with a few pics. Enjoy!
(Pro tip: Always check in-world first before heading to Marketplace — you can usually save a few lindens.)

- Closet of Clothing – Black.Sand – Store
The clothing items came from Black.Sand’s men’s closet set. On its own, it’s fantastic — but the original Hilton Lounge Skybox closet was filled with women’s clothes and shoes, which didn’t exactly fit my lifestyle. I didn’t have room for the full Black.Sand wardrobe, but its low-prim items were perfect for adding a more masculine touch to my space.
The Hilton Lounge Skybox comes in two versions: empty or furnished (adult). The included furniture is actually quite nice — no complaints there. The poses are modern and diverse, but I wanted something a bit more cutting-edge, which led to the selections above.
I’m still searching for the perfect desk, but the one included in the furnished set works for now.
For modifications, I added a custom-built slat wood divider and knocked out the wall between the fish tank and mirror, then added a faux door. It just felt weird without one. (There’s still an odd dead space behind the closet and TV/shelving area — I might turn that into a small bathroom one day.)
I finished things off with a few plants, personal artwork, and posters from my time as a theater owner — little touches to make the space truly mine.
Hope you enjoyed this little photo journey through my latest home project. Honestly, I don’t know how the women of SL do this every day — I’m exhausted! I don’t plan on changing a single thing for a long time.
Technical Scene Notes: The lighting is standard A-6PM Windlight. The majority of the textures are PBR. There are various lighting emitters (simple prims) about to give off shadows and light effects. No editing to the images other than cropping. My graphics Firestorm settings are High, Shaders (Transparent Water, Ambient Occlusion), Shadows (Sun/Moon + Projectors), Reflection Detail (Static & Dynamic), Reflection Coverage (Manual & terrian), Point Lighting (Full), LOD 4.
