Have you ever wanted to try something different in Second Life? With so many incredible places to explore and activities to experience, it’s easy to feel a little overwhelmed by choice sometimes.
For the longest time, I thought golf was just something my dad played (lol) But golf in Second Life is actually a fun, challenging, and surprisingly relaxing game to enjoy either with friends or on your own. And one of the best spots to experience it is Pelicans Point Golf Course.

Not only is the course beautifully designed and visually stunning, but it’s also a full 18-hole region, so there’s plenty of room for you and your friends to enjoy a few rounds together without feeling crowded.
Getting Started
When you arrive at Pelicans Point, your first stop will be the Pro Shop.
If you’d just like to try the game before investing in your own equipment, you can rent a golf HUD for 24 hours for just 100L$. It’s super easy:
- Simply left-click the rental vendor to get your HUD.
- Then pay the charging station to activate it.

Be sure to read the instructions provided and if you get stuck, you can always message one of the friendly staff. The online staff boards in the office show who’s available.
You’ll also need to join the Pelicans Point group (it’s free!) since playing golf requires you to rez golf balls and other items. Just make sure your group tag is active before you tee off.

Don’t forget your scorecard! It’s free and can be picked up from the ATM right next to the rental station. Simply add it as a HUD, just like your clubs.
Playing the Game
Your 24-hour rental period begins when you pull out your first club. Once your HUD is active, you’ll see a list of club options, simply click the one you want to use.
To swing, tap your left or right arrow keys to adjust your aim, then click the ground to build power, then release to take your shot.
If you run out of time, you can recharge your rental anytime at the Pro Shop.
For those who fall in love with the game (and trust me, many do!), you can purchase your own clubs in the shop. There are two full sets available, each including a distance HUD and other useful tools to help you judge how much power to use and which club is best for each shot.

The course uses the TrueGolf system, a high-quality golf engine in Second Life that provides realistic gameplay and smooth physics. You can visit the TrueGolf website to learn more about the system and discover other courses that use it.
Relax, Chat, and Explore

After (or even during) your game, you can take a break at The Bogey Bean, a charming little coffee shop located on the course. It’s a perfect place to sit back, grab a virtual drink, and chat with friends.

Don’t miss the Birdie Board, a fun photo wall where you can submit your favourite golf snapshots to be featured on display.

The course flows beautifully from one hole to the next, with carefully landscaped fairways and natural scenery that make it a pleasure to explore. After completing the first nine holes, you can use the teleporter to access the back nine.
When you get to the back nine, you’ll also find a small games area, just click the dice on the tables to bring up a menu of mini-games you can play with your friends. And yes, even the public restrooms are there! They’re kept immaculately clean and serviced hourly (because even golfers need comfort breaks 😉).

The final nine holes are every bit as scenic and enjoyable as the first. Whether you’re chasing a low score, taking photos, or just relaxing in the peaceful atmosphere, Pelicans Point Golf Course is a perfect way to unwind.
Even if golf isn’t your thing, it’s a lovely place to explore. Bring a friend or a special someone, there are plenty of cosy cuddle spots scattered around, and the whole region has a calm, romantic charm that makes it ideal for quiet moments together.

Golf in Second Life is more than just a game, it’s an experience that combines challenge, creativity, and community. Pelicans Point offers one of the most polished and welcoming courses on the grid, where beginners and pros alike can enjoy a round or two in a truly beautiful environment.
So grab a HUD, take a swing, and see for yourself, you might just discover your new favourite Second Life pastime!
