JEFFAH BRINGS THE VOICE OF SL TO A SPOOKTACULAR AUTUMN AFTERNOON AT THE PATIO

Golden leaves, rolling fog, Halloween costumes, and a singer who knows exactly how to work a crowd. The Patio at Alpha Heights sets the stage for an afternoon of unforgettable live music.

WHERE AUTUMN MEETS THE SPOTLIGHT

There are some places in Second Life where the atmosphere does half the work of setting the mood. Then there are places like The Patio at Alpha Heights, where the setting, the crowd, and the music all come together to create something special.

I had the pleasure of spending some time at The Patio, and let me tell you, this was not your ordinary afternoon of live music. The venue had transformed into an absolutely gorgeous autumn escape, complete with golden trees, a vineyard-inspired outdoor setting, and fog rolling across the stage and dance floor. Add a crowd of guests dressed in their Halloween best, and you had the makings of one seriously memorable seasonal gathering.

It was the kind of setting that makes you want to pull up a chair, grab a drink, and stay awhile. Of course, once the music starts, staying in your chair becomes a whole different challenge!

THE MAN BEHIND THE MUSIC: JEFFAH

Taking the stage was Jeffah, a name that has become well established among live music lovers across Second Life.

Dressed for the occasion in a striking leather long coat, frightening makeup, and an impressive hat, Jeffah looked every bit the part of a Halloween headliner. But as good as he looked, it was the voice that really stole the show.

A winner of SL’s Got Talent in 2015, Jeffah has spent nearly 12 years entertaining Second Life audiences, with more than 3,300 performances to his credit. His repertoire stretches across rock, pop, adult contemporary, jazz, country, Broadway, show tunes, Disney favorites, and audience requests. If there is one thing you quickly learn about Jeffah, it is that putting him into a single musical category simply isn’t going to work.

Some call him the “human jukebox.” Others know him as “the hat” or even “the voice of SL.” After hearing him perform, you can understand how those nicknames came about.

Jeffah knows how to work a crowd. He doesn’t simply stand behind a microphone and run through a list of songs. He brings people into the performance, keeps the energy moving, and makes the audience feel like they are part of the show.

And on this particular afternoon, he delivered one powerful ballad after another, including a memorable performance of “The Sound of Silence,” alongside Halloween-themed selections and musical mashups that fit the spooky season perfectly.

There was plenty of variety, plenty of atmosphere, and no shortage of moments that made you stop whatever else you were doing and pay attention.

A LITTLE HALLOWEEN MAGIC

What made this gathering especially enjoyable was the way the entire venue embraced the season.

The Patio’s golden autumn scenery provided a beautiful backdrop, while the fog drifting across the stage and dance floor added just the right touch of mystery. It was atmospheric without feeling overdone, and the costumed guests brought their own personalities and Halloween spirit to the party.

And speaking of costumes, I have to give a special nod to our own Music Manager, Gracie Alpha Morrison, better known as GracieMorrison, and her partner, Zach.

The two arrived in an outstanding Street Fighter-themed costume combination. I am told the idea was Zach’s, according to Gracie, so credit where credit is due! The look was creative, instantly recognizable, and a great example of how much fun people in Second Life can have with a themed event.

Between the costumes, the scenery, and Jeffah’s performance, The Patio managed to create the sort of seasonal gathering that feels less like simply attending a concert and more like being part of an occasion.

THE PATIO AT ALPHA HEIGHTS: AN OPEN-AIR ESCAPE

The Patio describes itself as a place where music meets the sunset, with live performances under string lights, warm company, and an inviting outdoor atmosphere. After experiencing the venue in its autumn finery, I would say that description hits the mark.

There is something refreshing about an outdoor music venue in Second Life, particularly one that makes the surroundings part of the experience. The vineyard-style setting, the autumn colors, and the open-air layout gave guests room to mingle, dance, enjoy the scenery, and settle into the music.

The Patio isn’t just about the performer on stage. It is about creating a space where people can gather, socialize, and share a good time while enjoying live entertainment.

And when you have a performer like Jeffah, that combination works beautifully.

BEHIND THE VOICE

Jeffah’s musical experience extends well beyond Second Life. Outside the virtual world, he toured for more than four years with the internationally recognized fiddle-rock band FIDDLESTIX, performing on keyboards, Irish whistle, saxophone, and vocals.

He also spent three years living in Lisbon, Portugal, before returning to Ontario, Canada, where he rejoined FIDDLESTIX and continued performing with the band until late 2024.

His vocal recordings on SoundCloud have surpassed 3.5 million plays, averaging more than 3,000 plays per week. Those are impressive numbers, but they also tell a larger story: Jeffah’s music reaches listeners well beyond the audiences who gather for his live performances in Second Life.

That depth of experience comes through in his shows. Whether he is delivering a powerful ballad, a familiar favorite, or a playful seasonal number, there is a confidence and versatility that only comes from years of performing for audiences.

CATCH JEFFAH LIVE

If you haven’t experienced a Jeffah performance yet, he is well worth adding to your live music calendar. With a vast repertoire, a knack for reading the crowd, and the ability to move from one musical style to another, he offers something for a wide range of listeners.

You can also catch Jeffah performing at venues around the grid, including , The Golden Hour, GEL, Calas Galadhon, Vive Ama RIE, and Music on the Blake.

THE FINAL WORD

I always appreciate when a venue puts thought into more than simply booking a performer and opening the doors. The Patio delivered an inviting seasonal setting, a crowd that embraced the Halloween theme, and an afternoon of music that gave everyone plenty of reasons to stick around.

Jeffah brought the voice, the personality, and the musical range. The Patio brought the atmosphere. The guests brought the costumes and the energy. And Gracie and Zach gave us a Street Fighter moment that deserves a mention all on its own.

Put all those ingredients together, and you have exactly what live entertainment in Second Life should be about: good music, good company, a little imagination, and an experience worth talking about afterward.

If autumn afternoons are going to sound this good, count me in.
