CELEBRATION SQAURE – [TELEPORT]
I grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois, surrounded by endless cornfields. We actually had a town square — the kind you see in old postcards — with the courthouse standing dead center, four red lights marking each corner, and four streets lined with the local bank, family-owned shops, and the movie theater where everyone went on Friday nights. It’s rare to find that kind of charm anymore, even in Second Life. But Celebration Square brought it all rushing back.

With the grid brimming full of haunted houses, horror mazes, and jump-scare experiences this time of year, Celebration Square offers something refreshingly different — a cozy, small-town Halloween filled with nostalgia and warmth. There’s no blood-smeared walls or monsters chasing you here, just the crisp autumn air (or the illusion of it), pumpkins on porches, and the sense that you’ve come home.

I first visited this sim a while back to cover a live performance by Maximillion Kleene at the little coffee shop tucked along Main Street. Even then, it had that “storybook Americana” vibe — charming storefronts, detailed textures, and an atmosphere that felt like fall had settled in early. During that visit, one of the talented sim designers, Maeve Delicious Bacon Kilara, chatted me up about the plans for their fall transformation. She hinted that a “big change” was coming soon and encouraged me to come back and see it for myself. I’m glad I did.

Now, with the autumn decor in full swing, Celebration Square has become a postcard-perfect vision of small-town life in October. Every corner has been touched with creativity — from hay bales stacked near shopfronts to a pumpkin-lined path that glows softly at dusk. The attention to detail here is unreal; you can almost hear the crunch of leaves underfoot.

If you’re looking for something different — something “homey” in the middle of Second Life’s spooky season — this is where you need to be. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down, take photos, and just be for a while. So grab your SL camera, slip into your coziest fall outfit, and capture the essence of a small-town autumn without ever leaving the grid. (Check out the Halloween Mini Golf Course!)

(Alas… no one wanted to play mini golf with me…..)
