Downunder @ Acoustic Cove

Venue: Acoustic Cove
Singer: Downunder
Bandmates: ̗̀ ƬฬĪɳ ̖́-, Chiquita Rita, Goddess & lα RσѕA

Another early outing for me today led me to the charming Acoustic Cove, a casual waterfront venue that instantly brings to mind a Key West-style beach bar (but I’m sure it’s an Australian theme). With its laid-back atmosphere and ocean views, it’s the perfect backdrop for live music in Second Life. And today, the star on stage was none other than Downunder, one of the most seasoned and dynamic performers on the grid.

Known affectionately as “The Thunder from Down Under”, this Adelaide-born powerhouse vocalist has been entertaining audiences in Second Life for as long as many of us can remember. From his stylish attire to the on-stage energy of his entourage—the “Downettes,” his bandmates and assistants—Downunder delivers far more than just a show. He creates a full experience, one that draws you in from the first note and doesn’t let go until the last chord fades.

Down’s performances are as versatile as they are captivating. Whether he’s belting out a soaring power ballad or crooning a sultry, heart-stirring number, his voice has a way of reaching through the screen and making you feel like you’re right there in front of him. It’s no surprise that he’s built a cult following of loyal fans who flock to every gig, bringing their energy to match his.

Music has been part of Downunder’s life since childhood. At just six years old, he auditioned for Australia’s Young Talent Time, sparking a passion that only grew stronger. Over the years, he’s fronted several local bands in Adelaide—two of which he still performs with today, one spanning more than fifteen years of collaboration. His real-world experience shines through in Second Life, where his professionalism and passion meet the playful, interactive energy that makes his shows unforgettable.

Perhaps one of the most remarkable things about Downunder is his generosity. Beyond his regular, high-energy sets—often featured in the SL events guide nearly every night of the week—he’s known to surprise audiences with impromptu gigs, giving back to the community that supports him so faithfully.

At Acoustic Cove today, the music, the laughter, and the beachside breeze all came together for a show that reminded me why performers like Downunder are at the heart of what makes Second Life’s live music scene so special. If you’ve never caught one of his shows, do yourself a favor and find him on the grid—you’ll understand why they call him the Thunder from Down Under.
