If you’re in the mood for a little romance, then today’s date is the one for you!
I asked Ziekel to join me today on a romantic wander through Venesia, a Venice-inspired city, because I felt it was about time one of my dates had a little romance and refinement.
This sim is honestly so pretty, and the work that has gone into it is amazing. I was completely blown away when I first found it, and I knew I had to drag a date here!
We started the date with coffee at “Stardust” (which made me smile a lot), and there are plenty of drink options on the counter to choose from, so don’t worry if coffee isn’t your thing! I will say that none of the seating had built-in sitting anims, which was a little frustrating because we couldn’t sit together. You can sit on the chairs and stools and use your AO, though, so all was not lost!
Once we’d finished our drinks, we just had to go on a romantic gondola ride because this is Venice after all! The gondolas are rezzed in the main square, and you can just hop on one, which takes you on a tour of the whole city. It’s really lovely, and I actually wish it had lasted longer because it was so much fun. The gondolas have single and couples’ anims but, sadly, no FF or MM. We made do, though!
When we eventually dragged ourselves out of the boat, we wandered around the sim for a while, just enjoying the city. There are all these little alleyways and squares, and I was so impressed by the attention to detail!
We ended up finding a little bench for some cuddle time and, again, no MM or FF sits. Honestly though, I’m not faulting the designers of the sim for this. I think it’s just a reflection of the lack of same-sex couple poses in furniture across SL as a whole. With a bit of adjusting, we still managed to get some time together, and that’s what was important.
We then decided to do a bit more exploring and somehow wound up at the airport! I hadn’t even realised there was an airport here when I first looked around and, in hindsight, this is probably where I should have started the date but… we’re here now! It’s a really cute idea if you’re RPing a holiday, though. The airport is really well designed and has a check-in area, a little baggage claim area, and somewhere to grab something to eat.
Of course, what’s a date night without committing a few casual international felonies? I’m not saying we did try to steal an airplane, but the evidence may prove otherwise. Unfortunately, piloting aircraft isn’t on my list of talents, so we had to give up and head to the airport VIP lounge instead. There, we ended up cuddling on a giant golden gondola while watching mermaids on YouTube. Because of course we did!
Overall, I liked this date a lot! It was romantic, fun, and interesting. Did we do things backwards by ending up at the airport? Probably. But honestly, I love that it happened out of order. The best dates are the ones where you can look back one day and say, “OMG, remember the time we broke into an airport and tried to steal a plane?!” Or something similar.
