Well hi there! Come on in and make yourself at home.
Today’s blog was photographed at Little Havana, a really pretty sim that was recommended to me by a friend and that started me thinking about sims in Second Life and the work that goes in to them and the designers behind them.
As usual, if you are reading this and internally bitching at me because all you want are the credits, I don’t blame you. Feel free to skip to the bottom, and I hope you love the items as much as I do!

I’ve always loved visiting pretty sims in Second Life. As someone who takes a lot of pictures, it’s always nice to go to an actual sim to shoot something. Sometimes I have a scene in mind, and then I find a gorgeous sim that changes it completely, and honestly I love that.
Inspiration can be hard to come by sometimes. I tend to let music lyrics inspire me a lot (I know you’re all thinking, “Thanks, Captain Obvious. We’ve seen your blog titles. Duh.”), and sometimes that means hearing a lyric I like and planning a picture around it. Other times, I take a picture and then find a lyric that seems perfect to go along with it. But sometimes (a lot) I have nothing. Just a desire to do something creative, and that’s when beautiful sims become my fallback.

Finding sims isn’t hard. You can use inworld search to look for something specific, and I’m sure you’ll find pages and pages that match your search term. But finding a sim that truly resonates with the passion, artistry and imagination that went into creating it is like stumbling upon buried treasure when you were only looking for pretty stones.
I cannot imagine the sheer work and dedication that goes into designing and building a whole area, or an entire sim, from scratch. It boggles my mind that someone touched down on a completely flat, empty space, saw something magical in their mind, and then managed to bring it to life. I know we all appreciate creators who make clothes, hair, skins, etc., but I think sim designers and creators are largely forgotten, especially when they spend so long creating these amazing spaces only to open them to the public for free!

I suppose this is my love letter to all the landscapers, sim designers and owners, creative minds, and artistic visionaries who share their dreams with us. I realise that sounds corny, but I’m not going to apologise for it because I genuinely believe that’s exactly what they do.
I have been to sims that made me feel calm, relaxed, scared, uneasy, peaceful, and so many other emotions, and that’s a skill. To scour the grid for hours or days looking for the perfect tree, rock, bird, or building, and then use it to bring your vision to life… I wish I had that kind of dedication to anything!
Until next time, be good and be nice!
