Not Quite Pink Reloaded – Where the Wildflowers Grow

Well hi there, come on in and make yourself at home.

Something a little different today. I’m going to waffle on a little about the thoughts in my head, so if you’re just here for the picture and credits, I completely understand. Feel free to skip to the end. I won’t hold it against you.

I love Second Life. I am old in SL years (like, old old), and I never imagined that after all this time I would still love it, but I really do. I love the possibilities it provides. For creativity, for growth, for relationships, there is just so much potential. It makes my heart happy that it’s a place where people can explore themselves and be the people they don’t always get to be in the real world.

Over the last six months or so, I have been reimagining my SL. I realised late last year that somehow, without me noticing, my SL had become all about other people making it worthwhile for me. When those people were no longer around, I was lost.

I found myself logging in just to stand on my platform, alone, with no IMs. Or I’d go shopping, only to head straight back to my platform afterwards. (I know some of you out there can relate.) What a waste!

So I decided to change things.

The good thing about SL is that changing things can be pretty easy. Sometimes it’s something as simple as changing your skin or hair colour, buying clothes in a new colour (there is waaaaaay too much black and white in my inventory!), adjusting your shape a little, buying a new house, or moving land. Sometimes, though, the changes need to be bigger, bolder, and more dramatic.

So I pulled on my big girl pants and left my platform.

I searched for events and found some live singers to go and see. Some weren’t for me, and that’s okay. You don’t have to like everyone. But some I absolutely loved, and I joined their groups. From there, I found venues I loved and discovered more artists I enjoyed.

I started seeing the same people at different places, and I made friends. (And I most definitely did not stalk anyone, no matter what you hear!)

I said hi to people I was friends with on social media when I saw them out in the wild, and I made even more friends. I found that even when I was standing on my platform (much less often now), I had people to talk to and laugh with.

I think my point is that nothing is permanent. No situation lasts forever. If you find yourself in a place you don’t enjoy, you can change it. It might be hard, and it will probably be uncomfortable, but I promise you it will be worth it.

I am in such a good place right now, and I have no doubt that it’s only going to get better.

So if you see me inworld, say hi! I could be your first new friend to hang out with when you leave your platform in that gorgeous new outfit you just bought.
