Last time, Destination Your Imagination took you through a few of my own Halloween transformations. This time, I’ve brought company, and judging by this bunch, leaving us unsupervised may have been a mistake. Some of our SL Insider team members are stepping into the spotlight to share their own takes on October’s invitation to become absolutely anything. In Second Life, imagination can take you far beyond a landing point, especially when your travelling companions arrive with horns, wings, and questionable intentions.
Bronwen takes imagination straight into the flames, appearing as a formidable demon spawn amid fire and looming ruins. With sweeping silver braids, horns, and a weapon that makes a convincing argument for keeping your distance, she looks ready to claim the whole nightmare as her kingdom. Of course, one transformation was never going to be enough. In another scene, Bronwen and I find ourselves together in a padded room, looking like the reason the horror movie should have ended twenty minutes earlier. Consider it our contribution to team bonding, although next time we might suggest coffee.

Wolfie MoonShadow joins the lineup as the Naughty Preacher, sporting chaps and a look that suggests this particular sermon might require a fan. With his cowboy hat, tattoos, and rather unconventional interpretation of Sunday best, he brings a cheeky sense of humour to the Halloween lineup. Whether he’s here to save souls or lead them astray remains open to interpretation, but the congregation certainly seems likely to pay attention. Sometimes, all it takes is one outrageous costume idea to give a character an entire personality.

Magenta brings her own dark glamour to the angels-and-demons theme, pairing dramatic wings and delicate horns with a skeletal grin that makes an impression long after you look away. There’s something wonderfully intriguing about a character who leaves you wondering what story waits behind the pose. Is she temptation, trouble, or the unexpected heroine of a very twisted fairy tale? That part belongs to the imagination. Halloween in SL gives us room to play with those possibilities, building a whole world around a look, a mood, or a single mischievous idea.

Then there’s Chantilly, whose sexy jester brings a playful flourish to our gathering of beautifully questionable characters. Black-and-white checks, theatrical makeup, and ribbons give her look the feeling of a strange little carnival you might happily wander into after midnight. Be sure to catch her short video clip, too, for another glimpse of her Halloween alter ego. Together, these transformations show just how differently we can answer the same invitation to create. Pick a character, gather a few willing accomplices, and see where your imagination takes you. Around SL Insider, even the staff photo comes with a plot twist.
