A Magical Night at Misfit Dance Theater
There is something very special that happens on the nights when the Misfit Dance Theater fills with friends, chatter, blinking festive lights, and that unmistakable feeling that Christmas is about to arrive early. Last night was one of those nights. You could feel the energy the moment you teleported in. The chairs were already filling, seats were disappearing, and the local chat was bubbling with joyful excitement.
People were sending hearts, waving to longtime friends, shouting greetings, and saying things like, “This is my favorite Christmas tradition in all of SL,” and “I wait all year for Misfit Christmas!” Someone even joked, “If I start crying, nobody look at me.” The entire room felt soft and happy and full of anticipation.
I settled in with a little gang of WeeLander Dinkies who were buzzing with excitement too. Watching a show with a group of tiny Dinkies is an experience all on its own. They bounce. They wiggle. They accidentally sit on each other. They squeal when something sparkles. It is pure joy and made the whole evening even sweeter.

As I looked around, I found myself thinking about the staying power required to bring a production like this to life year after year. Ten years of Misfit Christmas magic. Ten years of sets, choreography, costumes, music, scripting, staging, rehearsal, and big hearts behind every choice. That alone feels like a miracle. And at the very center of it all is JenzZa, whose imagination and courage have carried these shows farther than most people realize. It takes real love to build a world like this and keep inviting all of us back into it.
Before we dive into the acts, I want to share the upcoming performance dates, because if you missed last night’s show, you truly still have a chance to experience this gem of Second Life.

Act 1: Misfit Toys
Whimsy, color, and the warmth of childhood magic

Misfit Toys opened the night with a burst of charm that felt like stepping straight into a child’s dream. Against a glowing teal sky and rust colored forest, the stage transformed into an oversized toy workshop where crates rattled with color and a giant teddy bear presided with soft sweetness. When the toy soldiers marched in, moving with perfect precision around playful trains and bright props, the whole scene bloomed with life. It was the kind of opening that warms your heart before you even realize you are smiling.
Act 2: Ho Ho
Snowy chaos, polar bear wiggles, and playful sweetness

Ho Ho brought a burst of humorous energy wrapped in glittering snow. The scene opened on a Christmas tree farm glowing with soft winter light. Suddenly a parade of huggable polar bears waddled in, bouncing their big round bodies with adorable attitude. They wiggled their paws, shimmied between the trees, and gave the whole theater a case of holiday giggles. It was playful, silly, and completely impossible not to love.
Act 3: Home for the Holidays
Hand painted memories, gingerbread magic, and warm kitchen joy

Before the dance even began, the stage glowed with something far more personal. Hand painted Christmas cards created by JenzZa’s real life mother appeared like treasures from a family keepsake box. The entire audience melted into soft “awww” sounds.
Then a cozy kitchen scene unfolded where gingerbread men and women popped to life and danced across plates and mugs. Cookies climbed over one another, cocoa steamed cheerfully, and even a lounging reindeer watched the adorable chaos. It was sugary, nostalgic, and overflowing with holiday warmth.
Act 4: Snow Angels
A powerful story of struggle, compassion, and hope

Snow Angels was the emotional heart of the night. A homeless veteran struggled through a fierce blizzard, searching trash cans for scraps as signs offering crisis support flickered around him. The audience grew quiet. His crutches slipped. His body fell into the snow. It was heartbreaking to watch.
Then angels descended. Their shimmering gowns blended with the storm as they formed a protective circle around him. Their gentle movements lifted the scene into something healing and full of grace. Many in the crowd were in tears. This act reminded us that even in deep cold, kindness still finds a way through.
Act 5: Elfs Off the Shelf
Work weary elves, giggles, and pure December mischief

Two tiny elves appeared in a neon lit wrapping station, one exhausted and dragging a paintbrush, the other scurrying with frantic cheer. The tired elf waddled around like it needed a twelve hour nap, and the audience adored it.
Once the final bow was tied and every gift was stacked, the sleepy elf suddenly exploded into dance, shaking off the exhaustion and bursting into holiday joy. The whole act was silly, lively, and full of laughter.
Act 6: Ragdoll Rhapsody
Bluegrass meets childhood nostalgia

Ragdoll Rhapsody brought the cutest jolt of energy. Two ragdoll toys with yarn hair and stitched smiles popped out from behind giant presents. They kicked their legs, tumbled around the sleigh, and bounced with silly charm. The bluegrass twist on Aerosmith’s “Rag Doll” had everyone bobbing along. It was sweet, floppy limbed chaos and the entire audience laughed throughout.
Act 7: River DayDream
A soft and poetic duet of warmth and winter

This act was breathtaking. At the front of the stage, a dancer moved through a warm riverbed scattered with flowers, her motions slow and intentional. Behind her, another dancer glided across a frozen lake, creating a shimmering contrast of seasons and emotion. This visuals to the Music of Sarah McLachlan – River was deeply touching.
Warmth reaching toward cold. Longing reaching toward escape. Every step felt like a quiet confession. It was tender and absolutely beautiful.
Act 8: Mele Kalikimaka
Hula hippos bringing tropical holiday joy

Before the curtain even lifted, the audience was already giggling as “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” played. When the neon tropical paradise lit up, and hippos in grass skirts wiggled their hips into the spotlight, the entire theater erupted with joy.
They swayed, shimmied, and delivered a holiday hula that no one will ever forget. It was colorful, funny, and bursting with warm island cheer.
Finale: Hum BahBug & Misfit Wishes
A stunning blend of Dickens drama and Victorian elegance

The finale opened on Scrooge’s bedroom. The audio from the classic film carried the room through the chilling moment when Marley’s ghost appears. The avatars played the roles with remarkable emotion and detail.
Then the darkness melted away into a glowing Victorian town square. Snow fell softly while elegant couples waltzed beneath golden lampposts. Carolers sang warmly at the front of the stage. It felt like stepping into a living Christmas card.
Cheers, hearts, sparkles, and applause filled the theater at the final bow. People typed things like, “Bravo Misfits!” and “Best year yet!”

My Final Thoughts
Sitting with my little WeeLander Dinkies and watching the last flakes fall, I felt so much gratitude. Misfit Christmas is not simply a performance. It is a tradition. A warm gathering. A yearly gift. And it takes so much love to keep a production like this thriving for ten whole years.
I appreciate every dancer, every builder, every lighting cue, every costume, and especially JenzZa, whose creativity and tender heart make this magic possible. These shows keep getting better and better and I feel honored to share them with all of you.
If you have never experienced a Misfit Christmas, please come join us at the next performance. Bring a friend. Be a Dinkie! Bring your softest holiday feelings. You will leave with your heart glowing.
