Is it too early for Halloween dates yet? My heart says no, but my head… well, to be honest, that also says no, so here we are!
Do you still have friends you talk to from when you first started SL? I have one. One that has put up with me for almost 20 years at this point. Meet Johan. A man who apparently has the patience of a saint. Or, more accurately, the patience of someone who’s had to deal with me for this long and has yet to block me. He deserves a prize, really, but instead he got to spend more time with me!
Today I dragged him to Hallow Hills 2026 which is part of the Harmony Hills Community. If you enjoy silly SL nonsense then I can promise you that you are going to love it here! You land at the Pumpkin Patch which is where you can access the Haunted House, the Haunted Corn Maze and Trick or Treat Street.
We started off making some potions at the Pumpkin Patch because I will never pass up an excuse to embrace my inner witch! First, we had a play with the MadPea potion dispenser and I have to admit, the strength one was my favourite. Check out those guns!
Once we were in the mood, we wandered off to create our own potions which is a cute little game where you choose which potion you want to make, get a clue that points you towards the ingredients you need, and then add them in the right order. If you get it right, which I did, obviously, you get a potion to take! I don’t want to ruin the game for anyone but this part did make me giggle.
[11:29] Phantom Glow Potion: A soft ghostly moan follows Magenta DeVinna. Their shadow drifts slightly to the left without permission
[11:30] Phantom Glow Potion: Magenta DeVinna feels weightless, chilly and personally offended by closed doors.
Once our potions had worn off and we were back to normal (relatively), we ventured into the Haunted Corn Maze.
So here is the thing. I don’t want to spoil this for anyone because discovering what’s hidden in the maze is the best part! But I did take some pictures which hopefully won’t ruin the game.
And here is where I shed some light on why we are still friends because this is what was happening this entire time…
[11:44] Magenta DeVinna: I was gonna hang out
[11:44] Johan Rosca: Looky that…fertilizer on the rope!
Did we get lost? Yup. Multiple times. Was it amazing? Yes! Some of it was creepy, some of it was icky and a lot of it was just silly, but it’s SL and it’s Halloween. These are the things I expect, and I was not disappointed.
Once we finally got out, Johan suggested we go to Trick or Treat Street so I could recover but I’m pretty sure that was man-speak for “I’m scared. Help.” so there was no way we weren’t going to the Haunted House next!
Hills Manor is the perfect haunted house. It’s super creepy from the outside, and the inside is filled with a ridiculous amount of delicious Halloween delights.
Again, I’m not going to spoil it for you with pictures of everything, but I did get some pictures of us eating dinner. I was a little too engrossed in my brains to worry about Johan hanging around but I must admit, his disinterest when I keeled over was concerning.
[12:05] Johan Rosca: Want some steamy soup?
[12:05] Magenta DeVinna: I’m good with my brains
[12:05] Magenta DeVinna: thanks though
We also made a friend in the kids room and we considered adoption but who has time for that? I can’t even dedicate time to looking after a pet in SL, nevermind a creepy adult-sized baby. He had to go.
Next was Trick or Treat Street and you can figure out what the idea of this was from the title. Johan got very into this one and decided to go all out with this creepiness! Didn’t last long though because, like all men, he wanted to be in the band and personally, I think he fit right in.
We wandered around the street, played on some of the rides we found and generally messed about before stumbling across a little food kiosk. I was a bit sad that not all the food was clickable but as this is free to visit and has been so well built, I’m really not going to quibble over clickable food. I did get a pumpkin pop which was yummy!
Once we had walked to the end of the street we popped back to the Pumpkin Patch because I had spotted some vending machines and even though the brains were delicious, I was still kinda hungry.
I won’t lie to you, the pizza was WAY better than the brains.
This was such an enjoyable date. I love Halloween season in SL and if you are looking for somewhere to indulge your Autumn/Halloween obsession, I very much recommend you visit Hallow Hills.
