A New Jazz Star Rises at Nevermore

There are venues in Second Life that you visit… and then there are venues you experience. Nevermore has always been known for its magical atmosphere — a fantasy-themed music destination where you don’t just attend a show, you float through it. Suspended among the clouds, surrounded by breathtaking views, it has long been a favorite for lovers of immersive live entertainment.

But recently, Nevermore has undergone a stunning transformation.

At the invitation of owner Cru Mourningside Merit (Crucible Merit), I stopped by to see the updates crafted by Venue Manager Harlow Jones — and what I found was straight out of a storybook. The redesign feels whimsical and intentional, with winding paths leading to intimate vignettes. Each corner carries its own reality, yet everything connects seamlessly, like chapters in a beautifully illustrated novel. It’s still unmistakably Nevermore — only now it feels deeper, richer, more enchanted.

And that night, it provided the perfect backdrop for the debut of a voice you’re going to be hearing much more of: Jess Rabbit.

A Voice Straight Out of Old Vegas

From the first notes of “Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words)” to the timeless elegance of “Moon River,” Jess Rabbit didn’t just sing — she transported us.

She has that rare “jazz crooner” quality. The kind of singer you’d expect to find in a smoky lounge just off the Vegas strip, late at night, spotlight glowing softly while the room falls silent. You could easily picture Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. sitting at a nearby table, cocktails in hand, nodding in approval.

Her style leans into the golden era of lounge and Rat Pack classics — smooth phrasing, impeccable timing, and a delivery that feels effortless yet deeply felt. It’s nostalgic without feeling dated. Romantic without being overdone.

And when she sings? You’re mesmerized.

From Ukraine to Sweden — and Into Our Hearts

Hailing from Ukraine and currently living in Sweden, Jess brings a subtle, adorable accent when she speaks. It adds charm and warmth between songs. But once the music begins, that accent melts into something universally captivating — soft, sultry, and undeniably HOT.

As her booking manager, NadinKatrin, shared with me, Jess is both an RL and SL live jazz singer. That real-life musical foundation shines through in every note. This isn’t karaoke. This is polished, live vocal artistry delivered with authenticity and style.

And yes… as Frank Sinatra might say, “she’s pretty easy on the eyes,” too.
