It’s 9 o’Clock on a Saturday – Parody Song

Posted on

Second Life Music Parody Project
Original Song – Samual Wetherby

This song I’ve always had in the back of my head for years, mentally bit and piecing items together from my experiences in Second Life. And yes, it always had a Billy Joel “The Piano Man” origination theme to it.

Hope you enjoy.

Just to clarify… I don’t sing (least not well enough to perform). I don’t play any instruments (God knows I’ve tried to learn), although have been composing and editing music and videos for decades.

LYRICS:

It’s 9 o’clock on a Saturday, The pixel crowd shuffles in, There’s an old avatar sittin’ next to me, Wearing bling from 2010.

He says, “Son, can you rez me a prim tonight? I’m not really sure how it goes, But it’s big and it’s boxy and very shiny, Back when flexi-hair stole the shows.”

(Chorus)
La la la, di da da La la, di da da da dum

Sing us a song, you’re the Second Life Piano Man, Sing us a laggy tune tonight. Well, we’re all in the mood for a dance-ball move, And you’ve got the parcels feelin’ right.

Now Frank at the bar is a friend of mine, Who wears freebie wings on his back, And he’s quick with a shout in local chat, But there’s lag when his particles attacks.

And the host is practicing gestures, As the contest board starts to glow, Yes, the crowd in the club smells like virtual love, And the Linden tips start to flow.

(Chorus)
La la la, di da da La la, di da da da dum

It’s a pretty good gig for a Saturday, And the traffic numbers are lookin’ fine, ‘Cause they log in for SL, to be someone else, And forget they’re still wearing a demo sign.

And the Piano Man, he plays to the crowd, As the grid rolls its eyes with a sigh, ‘Cause the sim is full, the music cool, And another day flies by.

(Big Finish Chorus)
Oh, sing us a song, you’re the Second Life Piano Man, Sing us a danceable song tonight. Well, we’re all in the mood for a pixel romance, And you’ve got our green dots lookin’ bright.
